On September 19, 2005, 17 troopers from Troop B, C and J met in Clarkesville, GA to explore the possibility of creating a Fraternal Order of Police lodge dedicated exclusively to the members of the Georgia State Patrol. The troopers present decided that the best way to accomplish the formation of a lodge for troopers was to make it a statewide lodge. It was agreed that a meeting to charter a lodge would be held in Forsyth, GA in October.
The charter meeting of Georgia Trooper Lodge #100 was held on October 27, 2005 in Forsyth, GA. Seventy five troopers joined at the charter meeting. Election of officers was held at this meeting and the following members were elected:

Lodge President: Lt. Joey Brown of Troop B
First Vice-President: SFC Buddy Johnson of Post 14
Second Vice-President: Master Trooper Andy Pavliscsak, Retired
Chaplain: TFC Brian Stewart of Post 15
Secretary/Treasurer: SFC Doug Kiser of Safety Education Unit
Sergeants at Arms: SFC Tommy Waldrop of Post 7 and TFC Earl Prince of Post 14

A second meeting was held in Forsyth on December 8, 2005 and at the close of the charter membership drive we had grown to 210 members.
Lodge #100 immediately began a program of community involvement by donating $500.00 to the department sponsored "Festival of Trees", a Christmas Season charity which benefits the Children's Miracle Network of hospitals in the Atlanta area.
On March 8, 2006 Lodge #100 held the First Annual "Troopers Day on the Hill" at the State Capitol in Atlanta. Our legislative body warmly greeted approximately 150 lodge members and members of the House and Senate officially recognized us.
During the first six months of 2006 lodge meetings were held throughout the state and our membership continued to grow. By June, Lodge #100 had grown in membership to the fourth largest lodge in the State of Georgia.
In June 2006, delegates of Lodge #100 attended the FOP State Conference at St. Simons Island. State Lodge President Carlton Stallings (retired GSP Captain) presented the framed charter to Secretary Kiser. During the five day conference, our delegates received encouragement and support from the members of the other Georgia lodges. We were truly welcomed into the brotherhood of the FOP.
Our October lodge meeting was a cookout in Dekalb County. Lodge #100 provided the meal as members of the four state lodges (GSP, GBI, DNR, DOC) met with our honored guest, State Senator Casey Cagle (elected Lt. Governor later in the year).
As our inaugural year drew to a close, the Georgia Trooper Lodge had grown to a membership of 317.
Our lodge continues to grow as we purpose ourselves to the improvement of the department we proudly serve and the protection of the people of the State of Georgia.
